About Luigi Galvani
Luigi Galvani was an Italian physician and physicist celebrated for having pioneered bioelectromagnetics. He was a physician, physicist, philosopher and biologist. He discovered what he referred to as animal electricity after he observed with his wife that when an electrical spark struck the legs of dead frogs, their muscles twitched. He is credited with having paved the way for the study of bioelectricity. He taught surgery and theoretical anatomy at the University of Bologna.
Family Life
He was the son of a goldsmith named Domenico and his fourth wife, Barbara Caterina Foschi. He became the son-in-law of Domenico Gusmano Galeazzi, a professor of anatomy at the University of Bologna after marrying his daughter, Lucia Galeazzi in 1762. She was his partner in many of his experiments.
