About Luigi Boccherini
Luigi Boccherini was a famous 18th Century composer who was one of the key figures during the Classical period. Throughout his career, the Italian produced many works which included sonatas, string quartets and cello concertos.
He was best known for his piece titled “Cello Concerto in B flat major (G 482)” which was written in the late 1700s. He also published the “String Quintet in E, Op. 11, No. 5 (G 275)” in 1775.
Family
He followed in the footsteps of his father Leopoldo Boccherini, who was also a cellist. His brother Giovanni Gastone Boccherini was also a dancer and poet. He had four children from his two marriages.
Facts
Boccherini was initially trained by his father before studying under Giovanni Battista Costanzi.
He performed alongside his dad at Burgtheater in Vienna, Austria.
