Louisa Adams served as the United States’ First Lady between 1825 and 1829. She occupied this position during the tenure of her husband John Quincy Adams, who served as the country’s sixth president. Some historians have speculated that she unofficially managed the campaign activities of her husband.

She was raised by Catherine Newth and Joshua Johnson, brother of former Governor Thomas Johnson. Her four children with the former president were George, Louisa, John, and Charles.
