About Loris Capirossi
Loris Capirossi is a former Italian famous and outstanding motorcycle road racer. He can be described as the embodiment of success in motorcycle racing, winning three World Championships (two 125cc titles and one 250cc title) and becoming the first rider in Grand Prix history to start over 300 races. In addition, he is a key figure in the famous sports group “Champions for Peace club.”
Background & Early Career
The rider made his first appearance at the World Championship in 1990, competing in the “125cc” level. Capirossi was part of the “Polini Honda team,” finishing on the podium eight times and taking victories in Australia, Britain, and Hungary.
Career Highlights & Achievements
Capirossi won his first world championship in 1990 at age 17, after completing an outstanding Grand Prix entire season. He repeated a similar performance the following year, comfortably winning the 1991 125cc world championship title. Then, with over 200 points, he advanced to the 250cc level in 1992. Again, he was impressive competing in the class, crowning his accomplishments in the level with the 250cc World Championship title.
Between 1995 and 2000, Loris participated in the 250cc and 500cc classes. However, from 2002, he competed in the 500cc, participating in the level throughout its various evolutions (MotorGP). He rode for Rode, Suzuki, Honda, and Ducati.
He retired from racing in 2011.
