About Lloyd Bridges
Lloyd Vernet Bridges Jr began his acting career in the mid-1930s, first appearing in minor roles on television before making his debut on Broadway in 1937. From 1940 until World War II when he enlisted in the US Coast Guard, he appeared in films produced by Columbia Pictures as a contract performer.
His well-known films include “Airplane” and “Home of the Brave” while he also became a household name through appearances in the television shows “The Lloyd Bridges Show” and “Sea Hunt”.
Family Life
He was the son of Harriet and Lloyd Vernet Bridges Sr. He had four children with actress Dorothy Bridges. The couple, who married in 1938, were the parents of actors Jeff and Beau Bridges.
Achievements
Along with his actor sons, he was honored with the Lone Sailor Award. He was nominated twice by the Emmy Awards.
Death
He died on 10 March 1998 of natural causes.
