About Livia
A member of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, Livia Drusilla served as the Empress of the Roman Empire from 27 BC to AD 14. She was widely seen as a very powerful advisor to her husband, Emperor Augustus. Many have argued that Livia had a hand in the death of Agrippa Postumus and some members of Augustus’ family.
She maintained her position after the death of her husband and was known as Julia Augusta after she became a member of the honorable Julian family.
Family
She was born to Alfidia and her husband Marcus Livius Drusus Claudianus who was a Roman Senator. Some historical accounts have suggested that she had a brother named Gaius Livius Drusus.
Livia was first married to Tiberius Claudius Nero with whom she raised two kids named Drusus and Tiberius. She became the wife of Augustus in 38 BC.
