About Lincoln Chafee
Lincoln Chafee followed in the footsteps of his father, John Chafee, whom he replaced in the United States Senate in 1999. Then, a member of the Republican Party, the American politician served in the House for eight years as a representative from Rhode Island.
After losing his seat in 2006, Chafee shifted his allegiance to the Democratic Party before running for the governorship position as an independent candidate in 2010. The following year, he was sworn-in as Rhode Island’s Governor and held that office until 2015.
Personal Life
His mother is called Virginia Coates. He got married to Stephanie Birney Danforth in 1990. He’s the father of competitive sailor Louisa Chafee.
Education
After Phillips Academy, Chafee studied at Brown University.
Trivia
He was a member of the wrestling team during his days in the university.
He unsuccessfully contested for the Democrat’s presidential slot ahead of the 2016 elections.
Chafee has also been a member of the Libertarian Party.
