Leonor Magdalena Varela Palma is her full name, and she is a Chilean actress, activist, and model.
Background & Early Life
Her birthplace is Santiago, Chile. She is the daughter of the famous Chilean biologist Francisco Varela García and Leonor Palma-Keller. Following the 1973 Chile military coup d'état, her family left Chile for Costa Rica during her childhood. However, they returned to Chile in the 1980s, but due to Leonor’s education, she was sent to Paris, France.
She studied at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris, L'École du Passage, and Niels Arestrup School.
Career Highlights
Her debut acting job was the role of “Anette” in a 1995 children’s film, “Pony Trek.” However, she gained popularity in her homeland when she starred in the Chilean melodrama, “Tic Tac.”
Her notable roles in television films include the main character in the 1999 miniseries “Cleopatra” and “Nyssa Damaskinos (Vampire Princess)” in “Blade II.”
In 2005, the Ariel Award-nominated her for the Best Actress award for her role in “Innocent Voices.” By 2020, she had appeared in at least 30 films and TV series.

Between 1999 and 2001, she was engaged to “Cleopatra” star Billy Zane. She got married to film producer Lucas Akoskin in April 2013. As of 2021, they had two children.
