About Lee Byung-chul
Lee Byung-chul was a South Korean business executive and entrepreneur. He founded the Samsung Group, one of the world’s largest phone and television manufacturing companies. When he started the company, in March 1938 in Daegu, South Korea, it was into the transportation of goods in the country, which in less than a decade spread to outside of South Korea. He is also known as the first chairman of the company.
Family Life
He was born into a family of wealthy landowners. His third son, Lee Kun-hee, succeeded him as the chairman of the aforementioned company.
He was married twice in his lifetime: With his first wife Park Du-eul, he had eight children while his second wife, Kuroda gave him a son and a daughter.
His first daughter, Lee In-hee, founded Hansol while his first son, Lee Maeng-hee founded CJ Group.
Death
He died in 1987, at the age of 77.
Trivia
He established one of South Korea’s largest private art collections, which opened for public viewing after he died.
