Hailing from England, Lee Bowyer is a retired soccer player and an active coach. He played as a midfielder. He started playing soccer as a teenager. Before making his senior career debut, he played for Senrab F.C and Charlton Athletic F.C Youth teams. In 1994, Bowyer made his professional debut at the latter club. Two years later, he moved to Leeds United for a fee of £2.8 million.
In 2003, he joined West Ham United. That same year, Bowyer moved to Newcastle United due to the relegation of his former club. After spending 3 years with the team, he rejoined West Ham United. Other clubs he played for before retiring were Birmingham City and Ipswich Town.
At the international level, he made 13 appearances for the England U-21 team, and an appearance for the England senior team. At the end of his playing career, he played in 604 games, scoring 99 goals.
As a manager, Bowyer made his professional first-team coach debut in 2018 with Charlton Athletic. In 2021, he joined Birmingham City.

Awards
In 2011, he won the Football League Cup while playing for Birmingham City. Again, he won the Leeds United Player of the Year in 1999, and 2001.
As a manager, he won the 2019 EFL League One play-offs with Charlton Athletic. He also won the EFL League One Manager of the Month (November 2018, and April 2019).
