About Larry Brown
The popular and successful basketball player and coach Lawrence Harvey Brown has made his name known in the sports community after playing for popular teams such as the Denver Rockets and coaching the Philadelphia 76ers. Brown was also inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 2022 and received the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award.
Growing Up
The basketball player grew up in a Jewish home and enrolled at the Long Beach High School, where he played as a point guard. He graduated and later enrolled in the University of North Carolina, where he continued to indulge in the game of basketball.
Career
Brown's professional career commenced with the New Orleans Buccaneers in 1967, and he played for the team until 1968. He later moved on to play for the Oakland Oaks from 1968 to 1971 and finally settled with the Denver Rockets in 1971 until he retired from professional basketball in 1972.
Life As Coach
Brown deduced that he would be even more successful as a coach and went on to build his portfolio. He first had the opportunity to coach the Carolina Cougars from 1972 to 1974 and later coached other popular teams such as New Jersey Nets, Indiana Pacers, and Charlotte Bobcats. As of 2022, Brown serves as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team of the University of Memphis.

The basketball star married Shelly Brown in 1993 and has 4 children as of 2021.
