Career
She started her musical career, playing in a rock band before signing a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Her vocal ability was noticed by singer Akon and he helped her sign a record deal which led to the release of her debut album.

She got engaged to actor Taylor Kinney in February 2015.
Awards
In addition to her several Grammy Awards, she won a Golden Globe Award in 2016 for playing Elizabeth Johnson/The Countess in the television series American Horror Story: Hotel.
