L.A. Reid is an award-winning American music producer, songwriter and music executive known for the instrumental role he played in establishing the career of numerous famous artists such as Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, OutKast, Usher and Kanye West. He served as a judge on multiple seasons of the American version of the reality television music competition show The X Factor.
Career
He began his career in the music industry as a drummer with Pure Essence before joining The Deele in the 1980s. After the demise of The Deele, he founded LaFace Records in 1989 with singer Babyface.
Personal Life
He was married to singer-songwriter Perri "Pebbles" Reid from 1989 to 1996. The marriage produced a son named Aaron. His second marriage was to Erica Reid in 2000.
