About Konrad Zuse
Konrad Zuse was a popular German computer scientist who has been regarded as the originator of the modern-day computer. A former employee of the Ford Motor Company, Zuse began designing his famous Z3 computer in 1935, but outdoored it in 1941. His innovation became the world’s maiden automatic digital and working programmable computer.
Later that year, he created his company called the Zuse Apparatebau which would produce the first-ever commercial computer which would be known as Z4. His works came into the limelight in 1946 after his patent was optioned by American company IBM.
Private Life
In 1945, he married a woman called Gisela Brandes and they had their first child Horst Zuse later that year.
Education
He studied civil engineering at Technical University of Berlin (then known as Technische Hochschule Berlin).
Awards
His numerous accolades included the Harry H. Goode Memorial Award, Werner von Siemens Ring, and the Wilhelm Exner Medal.
Trivia
He worked as a painter after ending his career as a computer scientist.
In 1969, he published a book titled “Calculating Space (Rechnender Raum)”.
