About Kirk Gibson
Kirk Gibson will forever be remembered for his walk-off home run during the World Series in 1988. Many sport pundits have described the incidence as one of the greatest moments to happen in the World Series. He began his MLB career in 1979 with the Detroit Tigers. He won the World Series title before parting ways with the team in 1987.
He later joined the Los Angeles Dodgers and helped them to win the 1988 edition of the Series. Before ending his playing career in 1995, the Michigan-born outfielder featured for teams like the Kansas City Royals, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Coaching Career
Between 2003 and 2005, Gibson served as the bench coach for the Detroit Tigers. He served at the same position when he moved to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2007.
After three years with the Diamondbacks, he was promoted to the position of an interim manager. His position was made permanent later that year.
Personal Life
In1985, this baseball legend got married to JoAnn Sklarski. Their union has produced four kids named Colleen, Kevin, Kirk, and Cam.
Education
He completed Waterford Kettering High School and continued at Michigan State University.
Honors
In 1988, he was named the National League’s Most Valuable player. That same year, he received the Silver Slugger Award. He joined other legends in the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017.

Growing up, he loved hunting for deer.
In 1987, he came up with a new aviation record after flying at 25,200 feet.
