Kevin Jance Anthony Nolan, shortened Kevin Nolan, is an English soccer coach and former professional soccer player. He was a midfielder and played in England throughout his career, spanning between 1999 and 2018.
Early Life & Amateur Career
Liverpool, Merseyside, is his birthplace. He was educated at Liverpool Blue Coat School and played for the schoolboys' team of Liverpool City from age 14.
Between 1997 and 1999, he played for the academy team of Bolton Wanderers.
Professional Playing Career
In his 18-year career between 1999 and 2018, he played professional soccer for several English clubs, including Bolton Wanderers, West Ham United, Newcastle United, Leyton Orient and Notts County. He made 607 appearances and scored 111 goals during his career.
He was a highly prolific midfielder with good leadership skills, having been a onetime captain of Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United.
Although he represented England at the Under 18 and 21 levels, he never received a call-up from the national team. Previously, he was the most capped English player (401 caps) in the Premier League and had no caps for the England national team.
Coaching Career
He was the player-manager of Leyton Orient and Notts County between 2016 and 2018. In February 2020, West Ham United appointed him as first team-coach under manager David Moyes.
