About Ken Loach
Ken Loach is a revered English film and television director known for films such as 2006's The Wind That Shakes the Barley and 2016'sI, Daniel Blake. His 1969 drama film Kes, was placed at the 7th position on the list of the greatest British films of the 20th century (BFI Top 100 British films). He is regarded as one of the greatest English film directors of all time.
Family Life
He was born to Vivien and John Loach. In 1962, he married Lesley Ashton, with whom he had five children, including Jim Loach, who also became a filmmaker.
Awards
In 2006, he won his first Palme d'Or award for his film The Wind That Shakes the Barley. He won another Palme d'Or award in 2016 for his film I, Daniel Blake.
Trivia
He was one of the supporters of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who lost thousands of dollars in bail money after Assange skipped bail and sought refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
