The fashion designer is an alumnus of Washington University, where she studied fine arts.
Career
Unger went on to study under the successful American fashion designer Geoffrey Beene. She later developed her clothing line in 1972 with the help of Howard Bloom and Jon Levy. The Gillian Group was later established to produce dinner apparels for sale and became one of the largest suppliers of women's apparel in the United States. Unger later founded the Phoebe Company LLC and thereafter expanded it to incorporate other clothing lines.
Personal Life
The fashion designer tied the knot with Dr. Gerald Harris Pitman.
Achievements
Unger was honored as a Leading Woman Entrepreneur of the World in 1999.
