Actor Karl Malden had a successful career that spanned over 60 years (1937-2000). His early career comprised of stage performances, including roles on Broadway. He appeared in his first film, “They Knew What They Wanted” in 1940.
He rose to fame through performances in the films “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “How the West Was Won” as well as in the television series, “The Streets of San Francisco”.
Family Life
He grew up in Gary, Indiana as the first of three sons born to Czech seamstress and actress Sekulovich and steel mills worker Petar Sekulović. He was married to Mona Greenberg for over 70 years. He had two daughters: Carla and Mila.
Achievements
His role in “A Streetcar Named Desire” won him an Oscar in 1951. He is an inductee of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Western Performers Hall of Fame.
Death
He died on July 1, 2009, aged 97.
