About Julio Ricardo Cruz
Former football player Julio Ricardo Cruz played for clubs in Argentina, the Netherlands, and Italy prior to his retirement in 2010. He spent the majority of his career with Internazionale, where he amassed numerous accolades and won four straight Serie A championships.
Club and International Football
In 1993, he began his career with the Argentine football club Banfield. Three years later, he transferred to Argentine giants River Plate. At River Plate, he made over 25 appearances and scored more than 15 goals in the 1996/97 season.
The forward’s impressive scoring caught the attention of Dutch football club Feyenoord and in 1997, he signed for the club. He would go on to make over 80 appearances and score more than 40 goals for Feyenoord. He helped the club win the Eredivisie title.
His three-year stay in Bologna saw him feature over 80 times for the club. In 2003, he made his move to Internazionale and went on to make over 120 appearances and score almost 50 goals for the club. With 21 goals, he finished the 2006 season as Inter's leading scorer.
He signed a two-year deal with Lazio after leaving Inter in 2009, however their agreement was amicably canceled at the end of the 2009–10 season, citing injuries.
He scored four goals and made 22 international appearances for Argentina.
In 2010, he hung up his boots, having been battered by injuries.
Notable Achievements
He won the top-flight league in every country that he played for. For example, he steered Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 1998/99 season. With Internazionale, he won the Serie A title four consecutive times – from 2005 to 2009. He won the Argentine Primera title twice with River Plate.
He was crowned the top goal scorer in the Coppa Italia in the 2007/08 season.
