Julie Newmar is an American actress, singer, dancer and writer known for playing the character Catwoman in seasons 1 and 2 of the popular 1960s action television series Batman. In 1958, she played the character Katrin Sveg in the Broadway play The Marriage-Go-Round, for which she won a Tony Award.
Family Life
She is the daughter of Helen and professional footballer Don Newmeyer. She grew up with two younger brothers: Peter and John. From 1977 to 1984, she was married to J. Holt Smith, with whom she had a child named John Jewl Smith in 1981.
Trivia
Her son John was born with Down syndrome.
She has a very deep and seductive voice.
In 2004, her next-door neighbor, actor James Belushi, sued her for $4 million in damages alleging that she damaged his property and made defamatory statements about him.
