About Julie Hagerty
Julie Hagerty got her start in the entertainment industry as a model at the age of 15 when Ford Models signed her. She transitioned to an acting career by making her stage debut off-Broadway in 1979. In 1980, she landed her first screen role as Elaine Dickinson in the parody film “Airplane”, which would become one of her career’s most popular performances. She is also known for her performances in the films “Marriage Story” as Sandra, “Instant Family” as Jan and “Lost in America” as Linda Howard.
Family Life
Her musician father, Jerald Hagerty, Jr. and her model/singer mother, Harriet Bishop divorced each other. She was the younger sister of Michael Hagerty, an actor who helped launch her stage career. Her first husband was Peter Burki from whom she divorced in 1991. In 1999, she got remarried to Richard Kagan, an insurance executive.
Achievements
She won a Film Independent Spirit Award in 2020.
