About Julian Schnabel
Julian Schnabel is a film director and a painter from the US. In the 1980s, Schnabel gained international recognition for his unique plate paintings. As a director, he made his debut in 1996 when he directed “Basquiat”. Some of the movies he has directed include “Before Night Falls” in 2000, “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” in 2007, “Miral” in 2010, and “At Eternity's Gate” in 2018.

Family
He is the offspring of Jack Schnabel and Esta. He tied the knot with Jacqueline Beaurang in 1980 but divorced her in 1992. The following year, Schnabel married Olatz L. Garmendia, his second wife but divorced her in 2010. In 2019, he married his third wife called Louise Kugelberg. He fathers six children including Stella, Lola, Olmo, and Cy.
Awards
In 2019, he won the Paez Medal of Art. Additionally, he has won the Golden Globe Award for “Best Director” and the Cannes Film Festival Award for the same category.
