About Judith Godrèche
Despite starting her career at an early age, she remained an obscure figure internationally until she exploded onto the movie scene by playing the character of Mathilde de Bellegarde in the award-winning film “Ridicule.” In the film, which was directed by French filmmaker Patrice Leconte, she appeared alongside Fanny Ardant, Jean Rochefort and Charles Berling.
Career Highlights
Originally Parisian, she left school at age 14 and landed her big film debut in “L'été prochain” where she starred as Claudia Cardinale's daughter alongside French actress Dominique Sanda. She joined the cast of Jacques Doillon's “La fille de 15 ans”, which co-starred Melvil Poupaud. During the 41st Berlin International Film Festival, she formed part of the jury. In 1994, she veered into writing and published her critically acclaimed novel “Point de côté.”
Personal Life
She’s been married twice and has two children. Her second marriage, which lasted from 1998 to 2002, was to French actor and filmmaker Dany Boon.
Recognition
In 1990, she earned a nomination for César Award for Most Promising Actress for her role in “La désenchantée.”
