In his playing days, Brazilian center-back Silvera was capped 79 times for Brazil and scored 7 goals, from 2001 to 2010. The defender featured for a number of football clubs, including Flamengo, Bayer Leverkusen, and Roma. At the latter, he played more than 100 times.
He is best known for being part of the Brazilian National team that won the Copa America tournament victories in 2004 and 2007.

Football Career
His first football team was Flamengo in Brazil and stayed with the team for six years. In 2002, he became a player for the German football club Bayer Leverkusen. There he played almost 140 games in five years. After his playing spell in Germany, he moved to Italy where he featured for Roma. He was a loyal servant of the club and helped them win the Coppa Italia in the 2007/08 season. At Roma, he played alongside Gabriel Hienze and Brazil legend Kaká.
After Roma, he moved to Italian side Internacional and signed a two-year contract with them.
Internationally, he played for Brazil in the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2005 and 2009, winning both competitions. He was also part of the Brazilian side that won the Copa America in 2004 and 2007.
Juan featured for Brazil at the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. Unfortunately, his team was knocked out at the quarter-finals by the Netherlands.
