José Enrique Pedreira was a composer who hailed from Puerto Rico. He was popularly known for the composition of danzas. As a child, he started learning how to play the piano and other instruments. Pedreira wrote his debut work titled “Alicia” while in musical school. Some of his renowned works include “Canción de cuna para un infante moribundo”, “Concerto in D minor for piano and orchestra”, “Nocturne melancholique for piano”, “Vals en la major”, and “Valses de Concierto”.

He was educated at Zygmunt Stojowski’s music school.

He was born to Rosa Kehrham and José María Pedreira. He was married to Alicia Hutchinson. He gave birth to a child named José E. P. Hutchinson. He had three siblings.
Trivia
He was the founder of the Pedreira Academy of Music alongside his wife.
Pedreira received numerous accolades from several institutions such as the Juilliard School of Music, the University of Puerto Rico, and the Women's Civic Club of San Juan.
He taught piano lessons.
