About Jon Bernthal
Jon Bernthal is a famous American actor and he came to limelight after he played a role in the American horror television series "The Walking Dead".
Career
His career in the acting industry began after he was discovered by a director from the Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theatre Training while undergoing training at the Moscow Art Theatre. After completing his service in 2002, he began making appearances in a number of plays.
He made his screen debut in the American Sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”, and after that, he landed major roles in other television series such as “World Trade Center”. The film was released in 2006 and he played the character of Officer Christopher Amoroso.
Bernthal gained popularity after he was featured in the horror television series titled "The Walking Dead", which premiered in 2010. He made frequent appearances in the series and his great performances earned him a nomination in 2011 from Screen for the category of “Male Breakout Performance”. His other remarkable roles came in works such as "The Class", "Mob City", and "Daredevil" (2nd season). In the latter, he was cast as The Punisher, appearing alongside Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, among others.
Aside from television series, Bernthal has also featured in multiple films such as "The Wolf Of Wall Street", "Fury", "Snitch", "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian". In the latter, he played the character of the famous 1920s American gangster Al Capone. He starred in the film alongside Robin Williams, Steve Coogan, Patrick Callagher and Brad Garrett.
Bernthal is an award -winning actor and his awards include:
- He received an award from the National Board of Review Award i as “Best Cast” for his role in the 2014 film “Fury”.
- Also, he was awarded by the Detroit Critic Society for “Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 2021 drama film “King Richard”.
Personal Life
He was born to Eric Lawrence Bernthal and Joan Lurie. He is the cousin of late singer, Adam Schlesinger, who passed away in (in 2020) as a result of coronavirus. He was educated at Sidwell Friends School and Skidmore College.
Bernthal began a marital relationship with Erin Angle in 2010 and they have three children.
Trivia
He serves as an advocate for pit bulls, having had the experience of owning those dogs.
