About John Tyler
John Tyler was both the tenth Vice President and the tenth President of the United States. He became President after the death of President William Henry Harrison while in office. He became the first vice president in the history of the United States to succeed to the presidency without being elected to the office, leading to many dubbing him the “Accidental President”.
Career
He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1861 and left in 1821. He served in the Virginia State of House of Delegates before becoming the 23rd Governor of Virginia from 1825 to 1827.
Personal Life
He was married twice and fathered 15 children.
