He began his professional career in television journalism working as a researcher for WCBS. Before joining 20/20 as a journalist in 1981, he worked as a consumer editor for ABC's “Good Morning America”. His involvement on the show grew over time, and his section "Give Me a Break," gradually became a regular component of the show.
Stossel has won multiple accolades for his reporting, including Emmys and the George Foster Peabody Award.
