He studied at the School of Cinematic Arts and the University of Southern California, graduating in 1988.
Career
The filmmaker composed the 2016 feature film “The Nice Guys” with British filmmaker David Buckley. The film was directed by Shane Black and distributed by Warner Bros Pictures. He at the helm of the music for the 2011 American thriller film “The Resident”, which was directed by Antti Jokinen.
Ottman wrote the screenplay for the television series “Brother’s Keeper” and “The Gifted”.
Awards
His film “The Usual Suspects” earned him a British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award (BAFTA) for “Best Editing” and a Saturn Award for “Best Music”.
Ottman also received a Saturn Award for ‘Best Music” for his work “Superman Returns” (2006), which starred Brandon Routh, Frank Langella, and Kate Bosworth.
