About John Oswald
John Oswald is a Canadian composer, saxophonist, dancer and media artist. He is known best for his “Plunderphonic CD” album from 1989 that contained music that had been created by sampling very popular songs already in existence. It landed him in legal trouble as he was dragged to court by Michael Jackson for copyright infringement. He was forced to destroy the undistributed copies. Plunderphonics has since become a recognized music genre attributed to him. As a professional visual and media artist, he has held several exhibitions.
