About John McVie
British guitarist John McVie started a professional career in music around the same time as he became a tax inspector. He was then in his late teens. He was invited by John Mayall to join his band. He rose to fame in the mid-1960s as the bass guitarist of the John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers band. He left the band in 1967 to join Fleetwood Mac, which was founded by his former bandmate Peter Green. He has played the bass guitar in Fleetwood Mac since 1967. In 1992, he released his first and only solo album, “John McVie’s ‘Gotta Band’ with Lola Thomas”.
Family Life
After the death of his only sister, he grew up as the only child of Dorothy and Reg McVie. He was married to English singer-songwriter Christine Perfect from 1968 to 1976. She became a vocalist in Fleetwood Mac after McVie convinced her to join in 1970. He married Julie Ann Reubens in 1978.
Achievements
He was made a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside his Fleetwood Mac bandmates in 1998.
Trivia
He was a co-writer for the Fleetwood Mac hit song, “The Chain”.
