About John Kasich
John Kasich worked at the Legislative Service Commission before competing in the Ohio Senate election in 1978, aged 26. He won the elections and served in that position until 1983 when he was elected into the United States House of Representatives.
A member of the Republican Party, Kasich chaired the House Budget Committee from 1995 to 2001. A decade after leaving the position, he was elected as Ohio State’s Governor. In 2016, he contested for the flagbearership of his party but lost in the primaries.
Other works
Kasich has also worked as a broadcaster and is known for his time with CNN. Between 2001 and 2007, he worked with Fox News as the host of the television talk show titled “Heartland with John Kasich”.
He has also worked with the Lehman Brothers financial service company as its managing director of the Columbus, Ohio branch.
Family
He’s the son of John Richard Kasich and Anne Vukovich. His 1975 marriage to Mary Lee Griffith lasted for five years. He has been married to Karen Waldbillig. The couple, who wedded in 1997, has a set of twins named Reese and Emma.
Education
He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi during his time at Ohio State University.
