John Ray Grisham Jr. is an esteemed American novelist, activist and politician. He is famous for his intriguing legal thrillers.
He published his first novel titled “A Time to Kill” in 1989, which was four years after he started writing it.
His debut bestseller was his 1991 novel titled “The Firm”, which sold over seven million copies. The novel was later adapted into a movie under the same name. The movie starred top actor Tom Cruise in 1993.

He was born to John Ray Grisham and Wanda. In 1981, he got married to Renee Jones – they have two children together –Shea and Ty.
Achievements
In 2009, he received the Library of Congress Creative Achievement Award for Fiction. He also received The inaugural Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction in 2011 for his book titled “The Confession”.
