About John Deere
John Deere’s journey to becoming one of the most influential agricultural inventors in history began in 1821 at the age of 17, when he studied under blacksmith, Captain Benjamin Lawrence as an apprentice.
In 1826, he came into his own as a professional blacksmith, easily finding work because blacksmiths were scarce. 11 years later, he manufactured the first cast-steel plough to be commercially successful. His company, which was in charge of manufacturing the plough became incorporated in 1868 and stands today as the Deere & Company.
Family Life
He was married to Demarius Lamb, with whom he had nine children.
Later Activities
