Born Joelinton Cássio Apolinário de Lira in Aliança, Brazil, Joelinton joined the youth team of Sport Recife at the age of twelve. In 2014, he was promoted to the senior team where he scored a total of three goals.
Career
Joelinton’s versatility made him sought after and the German club 1899 Hoffenheim signed him in 2015. He was loaned to Rapid Wien and was part of the squad that played in the UEFA Europa League. His fifteen goals caught the eyes of the English club Newcastle United and they signed him for a £40 million fee. Joelinton was named the club’s Player of the Year for his ability to adapt easily.
Sadly this Brazilian player was left out of the Brazilian national team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
