Joel Albert McCrea was an American actor who thrilled his fans on screen.
Career
In high school, he had the opportunity to work as a stunt double for actors. He also worked as an extra sometimes in television shows. In 1929, he got into the movie “The Jazz Age” and went ahead to play the role of the main character in “The Silver Horde”. He featured in about a hundred shows including “Ride the High Country”, “The Gunfight at Dodge City”, “Stranger on Horseback”, “The San Francisco Story” and “He married his wife”.
Personal Life
When he was a little boy, he delivered newspapers for the Los Angeles Times. Among the people he delivered to were famous actors like Cecil B DeMille. He schooled in Hollywood High School and moved on to Pomona College. He decided to study a few courses in public speaking and drama. He loved horses a lot when he was young so he got a job holding horses for actors who portrayed cowboys in movies. In 1933, he got hitched to Frances Dee and the marriage lasted for fifty-seven years until his death. The marriage produced three sons.
Death
In October 1990, he suffered from pulmonary complications and died.
