About Joe Strummer
Joe Strummer was an iconic British singer-songwriter and actor best remembered as the lead singer of the English punk rock band The Clash, who released such successful albums as 1978's Give 'Em Enough Rope and 1979's London Calling. As a member of the Clash, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
Family Life
He was born to Anna Mackenzie and Ronald Mellor. His first marriage was a marriage of convenience to a South African woman named Pamela Moolman in 1975. He fathered two children with his longtime girlfriend Gaby Salter. His second marriage was in 1995 to Lucinda Tait. The marriage lasted until his death in 2002.
Trivia
He was paid £120 to get married to his first wife, South African citizen Pamela Moolman, in order for her to become a British citizen.
The Clash were placed at the 28th position on Rolling Stone's 2004 list of the 100 greatest artists of all time.
