About Joe Ranft
Joe Ranft was a top American animator and screenwriter who received lots of applauds for co-directing the animated film “Cars”. His best work is perhaps the 1995 animated comedy movie entitled “Toy Story” which earned him a nomination for Academy Award’s “Best Original Screenplay” prize.
His voice was also used for the Jacques character in the 2003 work “Finding Nemo”. Throughout his career, which lasted for over two decades, Ranft worked for some top production companies such as Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Pixar Animation Studios.
Private Life
His sibling, Jerome Ranft, is also a popular voice actor and character sculptor. Sue Barry became his wife in 1985, and together they raised two children.
Education
He had his training at California Institute of the Arts. Prior to that, he studied at Monte Vista High School in Whittier.
Death
He died from a car accident in 2005.
Awards
He received a Lifetime Achievement prize at the 2016 Winsor McCay Award. He was posthumously made a Disney Legend in 2006.
