About Joe Namath
Joe Namath is a former American professional baseball player and actor who spent his professional football career playing in the American Football League (AFL) as well as the National Football League (NFL). From 1965 to 1977, he played for the New York Jets and helped the team win Super Bowl III. Upon his departure from the Jets, he joined the Los Angeles Rams and played with them until his retirement. As an actor, he appeared in several television shows and films, including the television sitcom The Waverly Wonders, where he played the character Joe Casey.
Personal Life
In 1984, he got married for the first time to Deborah Mays. The couple had two children before getting divorced in 2000.
Trivia
The Jets honored him by retiring the jersey number 12, which he wore during his successful career with the team.
He got his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. He broke down in tears during his induction speech.
