Joanne Woodward is an American actress who gained international stardom portraying three personalities: Eve White, Eve Black and Jane in the 1957 film The Three Faces of Eve, for which she won several film awards including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and the National Board of Review Award for Best Actress. Her other famous film credits include A New Kind of Love, Rachel, Rachel and Breathing Lessons.
Personal Life
She married actor and film director Paul Newman in 1958. The marriage produced three children: Elinor, Melissa and Claire. She remained married to Paul until his death in 2008.
Trivia
In 1957, she became the first actress to win an Oscar for playing three different personalities in a film.
