About Joan Of Arc
Joan Of Arc was a was a martyr and a French heroine who at the age of 18 led the French army to victory over the British during the Hundred Years' War. She was captured by the Burgundians and handed over to the English. She was found guilty of a variety of charges and burned at the stake. She died at the age of 19.
Legacy
It was only 20 year after her death that she was pronounced innocent by Pope Callixtus III and was also declared a martyr. In 1803, she became a national symbol of France.She was canonized as a Roman Catholic saint by Pope Benedict XV on May 16, 1920.
Trivia
She was accused of committing 70 different crimes, including witchcraft and dressing like a man.
