About Jim Webb
Jim Webb is a well-known American politician who made an attempt to lead the Democratic Party ahead of the presidential elections in 2016. His political journey started in the late 1970s when he worked on a committee formed by the House of Representatives.
Between 1984 and 1987, he worked as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs before he was made the Secretary of the Navy in 1987. He was voted into the United States Senate in 2007 to represent the people of Virginia. He held that position until 2013.
Other works
Aside from politics, Webb has also been an influential journalist and writer. He published his first book in the 1970s which was entitled “Micronesia and U.S. Pacific Strategy”. Some of his most popular publications are “Fields of Fire” and “Born Fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped America”.
Family
He’s one of the children of Vera Lorraine Hodges and James Henry Webb and he was raised together with three other children. He divorced Barbara Samorajczyk in 1979 before marrying Jo Ann Krukar two years later. This marriage broke down in 2004, he then went on to marry Hong Le Webb the following year. He has raised six children.
Education
He studied at the University of Southern California, as well as Georgetown University.

Webb has received many military awards including the Navy Cross and the Silver Star.
Trivia
He became a member of the United States Marine Corps in 1968.
As a filmmaker, he worked on the film titled “Rules of Engagement” which was released in 2000.
