Education and Career
Yang attended Stanford University, where he earned both his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering. While at Stanford, he met David Filo and the pair founded Yahoo! in 1994. During his time at Yahoo!, he led several initiatives, such as the Yahoo Japan and Alibaba Group projects. After stepping down as CEO at Yahoo!, he established his firm AME Cloud Ventures, which has provided financial support to over 50 tech startups, including Zoom, Wattpad, and Evernote.
Personal Life and Philanthropy
Yang married Akiko Yamazaki, who he met during an exchange program in Japan when he was at Stanford. The pair have made huge impacts in philanthropy, donating millions of dollars to institutions like Stanford University, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and Cantor Arts Center.
