About Jenny Lind
Jenny Lind was one of the most popular opera singers during the 19th century. The Swedish singer performed in many countries as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music which she joined in 1840.
Two years before joining the group, she starred in the German opera titled “Der Freischütz” which catapulted her to stardom. Her association with American politician and showman P. T. Barnum gave her the opportunity to introduce herself to the American audience. She performed in Robert Schumann’s “Paradise and the Peri” which premiered in 1843.
Family
She was the daughter of Anne-Marie Fellborg and Niclas Jonas Lind. She was married to Otto Goldschmidt with whom she had three kids.
Trivia
Her life inspired the film titled “The Greatest Showman” which was released in 2017.
A Norwegian airplane with registration number registration LN-DYG has been named after her.
American actress Grace Moore portrayed her character in 1930’s “A Lady's Morals”.
