About Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani
In 1996, Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was named as the next in line to ascend the throne as the Emir of Qatar. However, in 2003, he renounced his title as the Crown Prince of Qatar. In 1997, Jassim began serving as the head of Qatar’s National Cancer Society.
Due to his love for sports, especially soccer, he was appointed as the patron of the famous Aspire Academy in 2003. He has also worked with Qatar Foundation, a nonprofit organization, which is owned by the state.
Family
He’s one of the children of Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned, and her husband Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who served as the Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013. His brother Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani succeeded their father.
Jassim has been married to Buthaina bint Hamad Al Thani. They officially became a couple in 2006. Their children include Tamim bin Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Moza bint Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Education
He was trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He also schooled at the International College, Sherborne School.

During his father’s reign as the emir, he served as his personal representative.
He rejected his Crown Prince position because he had no interest in being the ruler of the country.
