About Jan Paulsen
Jan Paulsen is a well-known global leader of the Seven-day Adventist Church. He has served the church across America, Europe, and Africa and has written several Adventist books for missionary works. Between March 1999 and June 2010, he served as the president of the "General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists."
Early Life & Education
He was born to an Adventist family in Narvik, Norway. At age 14, he was baptized in the Seven-day Adventist church.
In 1954, he graduated from Vejlefjord High School, Denmark, and later enrolled in Andrews University, where he obtained his first degree in theology. He then received his master's and doctorate degrees from the Potomac University and the University of Tübingen, respectively. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Divinity from the Adventist Theological Seminary.
Church Roles
He has served at all levels of church leadership in the Seven-day Adventist church, thus as a teacher, department leader, pastor, and global vice president and leader.
He was the third non-American person to become president of the Seven-day Adventist church. He initiated several innovative programs during his tenure, which grew the church, such as the "Let's Talk" campaign that brought many youths into the church.
Trivia
He was the first Adventist president to appear on an interview of a top international TV network, "Night Talk" on "Bloomberg Television."
