James Walsh, in full James Milne Walsh, is a well-known English sensational singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. The singer is widely known as the frontman of the English post-Britpop band "Starsailor." He has been successful in his solo career and has made several wonderful collaborations.
Background & Early Life
He was born in Wigan and was raised in Chorley, England. He was enrolled in St Michael's CE School. By age 12, he had learned the piano, and by age 14, he had begun writing his music. He has stated that bands and artists such as Tim Buckley, the Beatles, and Nick Drake hugely inspired him.
Band Career
In 2000, while studying music at the Leigh College, Wigan, he formed the post-Britpop band "Starsailor" with band members James Stelfox and Ben Byrne. As of 2021, he had released five studio albums with the band and sold over 2.5 million copies globally. In addition, they have released several singles that have charted on the UK singles chart, such as "In the Crossfire" and "Keep Us Together."
Solo Career
He released his debut solo EP, "Live at the Top of the World," in November 2010. In addition, he has collaborated as a solo artist with bands and musicians such as Suzanne Vega, Simple Minds, and Mike and the Mechanics.
