James Drury was an American actor who began acting in movies way back in 1954 and had pretty much remained active on the silver and small screens in the years that followed. The signature role of his career is considered to have been portraying the titular character on the classic television series “The Virginian” from 1962 to 1971.
Family Life
His parents, James and Beatrice Drury, were respectively a NYU professor and Oregon farm owner.
He had three wives throughout his life - Cristall Orton (1957-1964), Phyllis Mitchell (1968-1979) and Carl Ann Head (1979).
His son from his firth wife, Timothy Drury, is a professional keyboardist that has played with famous rock bands. He has another son, James Jr.
Trivia
He began acting in professional capacity, on stage, when he was 12 years of age.
