About James Doohan
James Montgomery Doohan was an actor, author and retired soldier. Before he found fame as an actor, he had served in World War II as a member of the Royal Canadian Artillery. In the 1940s, he received acting training and started appearing in radio dramas.
He was recognized best for playing Montgomery Scott in the science-fiction media franchise “Star Trek”. He appeared in the original television series, seven films in the franchise and voiced the character of Scott in the animated series.
Family Life
He was raised alongside three elder siblings. His parents were Sarah Frances Montgomery and William Patrick Doohan. He is the father of Canadian actor Christopher Doohan. He had six other children from his first and third marriages. His second produced none.
Achievements
His last public appearance was in August 2004 to receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
Death
He died of pulmonary fibrosis complications on 20 July 2005.
